Chef Shorne Benjamin

Chef Shorne Benjamin hails from the cultural paradise of St. Lucia which informs his distinct culinary style. He infuses a contemporary approach of Caribbean cuisine to create an impressionable culinary style called New Age Caribbean ®.

Chef Shorne’s professional career catapulted after graduating from the prestigious French Culinary Institute, New York. He has since worked alongside renowned Master Chef Jean George at the popular ABC Restaurant, NYC; alongside James Jermyn at the award-winning restaurant Maloney & Porcelli and at the well-known Lower East Side NYC contemporary restaurant Falai. These experiences allowed him to explore and expand his innate culinary gifts and each helped to form the vision to establish his own identity in the dynamic realm of culinary artistry.

His career highlights includes being featured at the Annual “Taste of the Caribbean” festival in Montreal, Canada, where he presented 5-star culinary creations. In addition, Chef Shorne has previously served as Executive Chef for the Annual Rum and Rhythm Benefit hosted by the Caribbean Tourism Organization in New York and has participated in the Annual event for over 4 years and looks forward to represent the island of St. Lucia this 2017 year. In 2014 Chef Shorne had the privilege to represent St. Lucia in the 11th International Iron Chef Competition in Toronto, Canada. In 2015 Chef Shorne was invited back to participate in NYC Annual Rum and Rhythm Benefit and was sponsored by EL Dorado Rum. He also participated in the 2015 & 2016 Haiti Food & Wine Festival in Haiti in September. In early 2016 Chef Shorne was honored to kick off the year’s Guest Chef Series at the award winning Cliff Restaurant located at the Five Star Cap Maison Hotel & Spa in St. Lucia, West Indies from January 15-17, 2016. Continuing his successful year, in November 2016 Chef Shorne was invited to participate in the James Beard Dinner Series, Caribbean Sensation.
