Steven McQueeny Pérez is an acclaimed Puerto Rican chef, TV personality, entrepreneur, professor and restaurateur.
McQueeny began his university studies in civil engineering, however, his passion for gastronomy moved him to switch to international cuisine at the San Juan Hotel School. While still studying, he interned at the Caribe Hilton Hotel. Upon graduating, he was offered a full time job at the hotel’s Palm Restaurant.
He took a break from cooking to oversee the operations at the Apolo Bakery and Confectionery. There, he managed the staff and inventory; quality control in the confection of pastries; and baking of desserts and breads.
In 2009 he participated on Telemundo’s (Channel 2) cooking reality show “Operación Chef”, winning fifth place. His performance and creativity during the competition landed him a position as chef at Aquaviva Restaurant in Old San Juan.
McQueeny is certified with “Molecule-R Flavors Inc.” and nowadays he teaches molecular gastronomy seminars. He distributes his exclusive line of Molecular Gastronomy equipment in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. Currently, he owns Bytes Nitro Lab in Metro Office Part. It is the first ice creamery in Puerto Rico that works with liquid nitrogen and the first worldwide to work with liqueur
